Blocks Programming

The popularity of Scratch over the past six years has encouraged the widespread use of a particular style of visual programming known as blocks programming. Programs are created by snapping together graphical pieces, like putting together a jigsaw puzzle. This paper is a brief overview of how blocks programing works using Scratch as the example.

Let's Paint!

Description: 
Students will be introduced to the Paint Application and a multitude of online painting and drawing websites. Students will also be learning to import, crop, size and edit photos. Students will reflect on their experiences using these applications to make them more independent users of technology. Students will learn about the various tool bars and techniques.

Teaching With Alice

Description: 
This presentation of Alice begins with a description of Alice and how it's used to support various CS concepts. Starting at slide 15 there is a "folllow along" type of lesson where an Alice program is built and modified over the course of the presentation. Participants can follow along at their computers
